I built my PC about 2 weeks ago and since then it freezes after logging in to windows 8, or after 2 or 3 attempts will run for a good 4 hours and then randomly freeze, I can still move the mouse around but not click on anything. It also sometimes comes up with the "Your PC has run into a problem" blue screen. I've been able to play games like Battlefield 4 with no problems so it really is inconsistent. I'm not quite sure if it is a hardware/compatibility or software issue and would really like some help with this as I've spent $1300 on something that isn't running properly.

Specs:

CPU: AMD FX 8320

GPU: Gigabyte R9 280

Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M-USB3

RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB

PSU: Corsair VS650w

OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit

You haven't written the storage media you are currently using.

I think either your psu is failing to deliver stable and clean power or your motherboard is not getting along with it.

Also if one of the ram sticks is faulty then it might also cause problems

First remove one of the ram stick and check everything is fine , if it still happen then change and put the other one and check again.

If both things are good then get the pc to the one you bought from or replace psu and check if it is running properly.

Lastly check with motherboard with a service center or replace it too.

Thanks for replying, I have a Samsung 250GB Evo SSD
The RAM appears to be working fine, is there a way to test the power going into the PC? Like software I can download?
