Using Old laptop Win7 Activation code

So i have this new built desktop still haven't installed windows i was wondering, since my old laptop already had windows 7 home premium 64bit but its motherboard got fried..is it possible to use my windows 7 code that was used on my old laptop? "the sticker under the laptop" on my desktop or do i need to buy a new windows 7?

You probably had an OEM version of Windows 7 on your laptop. The licence is tied to the motherboard. As such you cannot use it on a new PC with a new motherboard.

The only exception to this would be where you were directly replacing the motherboard on your laptop (like for like). In this instance you would need to call Microsoft explain the situation and normally they would reactivate your licence.
