So i've expierence some problems on my PC,a few day ago i heard the hard drive being very loud for no reason,I looked at the task manager where csrss.exe was showing me a number of 7 Million (i dont know if its much or not) but my PCs Performance started to suffer...When I start the PC its at 6k maybe but It goes higher and higher after time. Now (after ~40 Mins after Restart) its at almost a million. But maybe thats normal and it isnt the problem but my Hard Drive gets louder and my PC is getting slower after a bit of time.I installed a lot of drivers/programs lately to get my PCs Component Drivers Up-To-Date.Im really worried, but i dont think its a virus as several virus scans showed me no result of viruses and Im pretty sure im safe as the csrss.exe should be too (same file size, description etc.) Please Help!

A classical symptom of memory leak. A processe is taking more and more memory so it gets to a point where it runs out and of course what OS does next? starts to swap to HD, hence HD comes on busy and noisy.

There are 2 schools of thoughts on updates:

1. KEEP EVERYTHING UPDATED as much, as quick as possible to correct problems. That's what vendors want you to do, so if you have to phone in for support, they don't have to deal with old stuff. Also updates keep them in business, if you don't update, how are they gonna to keep selling you more stuff?

2. UPDATE ONLY AS NEEDED. I've been doing this forever. You have to assume ALL software...

2. UPDATE ONLY AS NEEDED. I've been doing this forever. You have to assume ALL software have bugs, even the updates, as such, you cannot assume the update is "better" to what you have before. Hence this school of thought says, update only if you have a particular reason to, THEN do a couple at a time, so if it doesn't work out, you know exactly what caused it. But OK, doing "a couple" at a time can be tedious when you are dealing with like Windows service packs, so what my school says, BEFORE the update, make a good image backup of the OS, and if things is going the way your problem is showing, we just restore to old OS and we're back in business without fuss.

So at this point, are you able to restore OS to known-to-be-good checkpoint? Been keeping up with backups?

Or you can spend time troubleshooting your particular situation. if ccrss.exe is indeed causing the problem, GOOGLE CSRSS SLOWS or similar.

Thanks!Since My Backups/Restore Points were lost I searched for another Option to Fix this without losing my Data because I was working at some Projects which I didn't want to lose...I have an external Hard Drive but I was afraid I forgot something...But I realised,I could upgrade to Windows 10...Since I wanted to make up my Mind about that anyways I "upgraded" it...And Voila! Everything works more than Perfect,so I guess it was csrss.exe since it had to be OS related because I still have all my Data!

Conclusion:Everything Works Perfect now!! YES! :D

With much Thanks!
