Building a System for Music Production, Recording, and Live Performance: What Form Factor/OS?

As the title states, I'm looking to build or buy a system for music production, recording music (most likely through an external audio interface as I already have one), and live DJing and rap performance.

The setup needs to be powerful enough to apply real-time vocal effects, ideally with extremely low latency (same for recording). It should also be able to run Traktor pro 2 at a very low latency for live performance. Questions I have include:

  • ■ What form factor should I go for? I've looked at all-in-ones, laptops, and mini-pcs (think like a mac mini) and they all seem to be nearly equally portable- but where is the best bang for my buck?

    ■ Does the Intel NUC with the i7 seem powerful enough for low-latency high-performance recording and production or live vocal effects? I'm reasonably sure it would work fine for Djing.

    ■ I'm not quite sure whether I should go for Mac or Windows. I already use Windows, and I think my audio toolchain is more than sufficient- but a lot of people on a lot of different forums suggest Mac and claim it is ubiquitous amount professionals. Is this true, and if so why?

Hardware-wise, I'm fairly sure I want to use an SSD, 4th-5th gen 17, 16gb of DDR3 RAM (is there affordable DDR4?), and so I'm not too worried about the specs- I've read the guides on picking parts- I'm more concerned about which PLATFORM (form factor/OS) I should be looking into buying.

For reference, I'm concerned about running FL Studio, Traktor Pro 2, Adobe Audition, and perhaps in the future Ableton- Traktor and Ableton might be run at the same time with two hardware controllers sometime.

Any ideas?

Solution
A windows laptop is probably the best "bang for the buck" because they sell so many different models and sell so many more than the other form factor.
