Ethernet and WiFi - No just a WiFi issue

Been dealing with this for weeks... not even sure if a router issue or ISP.

Briefly... seems every couple days (average) I'll get a yellow ! on the network icon and the internet is dropped. Sometimes I can't even access the router using 192.168.1.1. Only way to correct the connection issue is to pull the power on the router and plug back in. Modem (bridged) seems fine, lights that should be on are on, and I don't need to restart it.

Other day I had one computer drop, while another still had access. So not always all systems. I also thought it seemed to happen often when there are a lot of downloads happening, but some times happens when no one downloading/streaming, even if only 1 computer on.

When internet drops, I can still connect to the media server and watch movies so, internet drops but router still working.

We have 2 computers and 2 computers set up as devoted HTPC's running through ethernet, and a phone and tablet on WiFi.

What I've done so far....

- Switched the router with an older Linksys Wireless-B and within a few days, it dropped. Tested for about a week, had the same issues as the E1200. Assumed meant not a router issue, but, old router, maybe has the same issue?
- Flashed the firmware since I was one version behind.
- Soft reset, then a hard reset.
- Changed network cables.
- Had the modem exchanged.
- Tech came in, very old house that was split into 2, then rejoined, said some wires were spliced up to 9x, so he fixed the wiring, same issues.
- Briefly unbridged and was trying to use the modem only... but speed over LAN dropped from 12MBps, down to 50KBps... huge drop in speed, couldn't stream or transfer files. ISP had no explanation. Couldn't really test with it.

Basically at a loss here... tired of troubleshooting and ISP seems more stumped than me.

Any ideas why the router keeps losing internet connection? It is set up to 'stay alive' and redial every 30sec. I assumed if the internet dropped, it would auto-reconnect in 30sec... apparently not.

I'm decent with computers but networks aren't my thing... I think I've done all I can without buying another router, which I'd rather not do in case it has the same issue.
