Earasing windows 7 on one computer and using on another

I am aware of it being illegal to use on more than one computer at one time. But if i fully erase it on one computer (my old one) then use the key on my new computer? Would that be considered illegal and would it give me the invalid windows key or version of windows message? Thanks for your time

If it is a retail copy then you can legally move it to a new computer aslong as you remove it from the one bein moved from (you'll need to make a call to microsoft when activating, the program will give instructions). OEM version(s) cannot be moved to a new computer though.
