I'm supposed to be renewing my contract sometime in August or early September and I've been demoing phones in stores and reading articles on phones (i take care with my phone choice) and managed to have it down to
LG G4; iPhone 6/plus; Samsung S6. (Lumia 940 also candidate dependant on release date)
I would like to hear opinions of people that own one of these phones and your experience with it. Also, maybe a your own personal recommendation? It really will help in my decision making closer to the time of updating.
The Lumia 940 hasn't been given a release date yet but if I was to get that, I'd buy an iPod to compensate for the app store and general media usage, and since Lumia's aren't as expensive as other flagships, it shouldn't be much more than another android/iphone

If it helps, my phone history is: Nokie E71>iPhone 3GS>HTC Desire>Samsung S3>iPhone 5S (current phone).
Thanks guys :)

Evey phone you've listed is entirely dependant on what os you prefer IMO.

Apart from the g4 vs galaxy s6 they're not really comparable.

Me personally ,I'm an android man ,tried windows phones in the past- never again ,hate the restrictions of iOS too - I like to tinker & customise.

Id take the g4 over the s6 (never been a Samsung fan) mainly for the bigger battery & better front camera.
As the guy above says the moto x style is looking the balls at the minute & the build quality looks absolutely sublime.

I just purchased the LG G4! However inserting chip kinda broke it so ordered a new one. I chose the lg as i had the lg chocolate years ago. And wanted to go with something different. However, I used the lg g4 for literally half a day so couldn't say much. However, size was decent (i previously had the iphone 4)so wanted my new phone to fit in my pocket. Its fast navigation allows for easy quick access to apps. Changing from iphone to android was a worry but within 10 minutes of using the lg I was able to use it easily and efficiently.

The same time purchased the samsung s6 for my brothers birthday and he loves it! Similar to the lg, its fast, easy to use. decent size.

I havent provided you with lots of info, so apologies if this isnt very helpful

@CostaP Don't worry, you said what you felt like saying, and I'm thankful you did in the first place :) Does your brother not have battery issues with the S6? I've heard that the battery isn't too impressive with the S6, and I'm usually out of my house for a whole day when at University. There is possibility of portable charger though which would help

He told me if does run out quite quick if your on youtube or facebook for about half an hour. It doesnt go down drastically but more than usual compared to other phones. Yes if you are at uni then using a portable charger would help. Unfortunately I have yet to test my phones battery when I return to uni october! :p

just wait a little bit the new moto is coming, budgetwise it is just me if it was a debate between an apple product and anything else i would buy the apple product,s6 is overpriced for an android phone and don't forget the really bad touchwiz,so buying a new phone to erase everything and install a new rom is a joke,so s6 no,for lg g4 it is not that bad i have use the g3 and g2 about g4 i have no clear opinion so i can't tell,as for lumia if you have no issues about the apps you use go for it nokia makes fantastic phones and windows phones seem to be really nice, conclusion wait for the new moto x and then choose between lumia, moto x and iphone.

Thank you for your input. My problem is that I don't really have an OS preference. I enjoy android because of the customisation and variety, but I also like IOS due to it's simplicity and reliability, so it more comes down to the phone itself. At this moment onward, I've basically discontinued my interest in the Galaxy S6, and it's simply between the LG G4, 940, iPhone 6, Moto X. I agree that the LG looks great, but I'm going to keep everyone's input in mind, and just make do for a month or two after my contract end and see how the 940, and Moto X look. Thanks again

Just to quickly add about the lg l4. The only thing in my opinion which suckc is the volume and power button. Its on the back. And the power/switch off button is in between the increase/decrease volume and are the same height/thickness so if you cant see it, you dont know what button your pressing. Also, as I was used the the power button on an iphone 4 being at the top and the volume on the side, I wasnt used to it on the lg g4. Its a silly problem that I have imo, but thought I would just write it. It isnt a big bother anyway, hopefully I will get used to it. Good luck finding your right phone! :)
