Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit
I have a video file 6 gb I tried to copy it to a flash drive, it said there is not enough room
but there is 14 gb available.
I found that it was formatted FAT.
I reformatted NTFS.
This time, after a few minutes of copying it gives an error message that the media cannot be found.
then I tried running the long, full format. same story.
I also tried formatting the flash drive right on the 7 machine itself. I had trouble getting the format wizard to run.

Then I took my eternal hard drive and tried to run a regular system image backup
after a number of minutes of backing up, again I get the message that the media cannot be found.

the flash drive in question works fine on my other computer (windows 10 pro 64 bit)
I just copied a 10 gb file onto it.

the problem PC is a desktop in a location without internet connection.
so I can't just uninstall drivers and run a windows update.
but I do have a DVD for the mobo, it came along with the PC
it says ASUS, and mobo H61M-E, and intel H61 chipset support etc
could I just run the DVD?

working on it.
they have a mobo driver update that claims enhanced USB compatibility. I am guessing that is the USB drivers. I didn't see anything actually called USB drivers.

I installed drivers, and this time the system image backup has completed successfully.
looks like mission's accomplished.
thanks.
