Hi I recently upgraded from a GTX 670 to GTX 970, and everything works fine... EXCEPT! Every time I boot up, it sits on the splash screen (Gigabyte) for 3 mins, beeping once every minute... During this I cant enter the bios so cant change anything, and it isn't a driver, so anyone got any idea, I'm a bit scared to clear the CMOS, as a previous article on it (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2160864/installed-gpu-takes-minutes-boot-access-bios-splash-screen-skipped.html) really messed up his computer and stopped it booting into windows, so because of this I dont want to try anything to risky to fix, but it is getting really annoying... Any ideas? :) Many Thanks in advance.

CAN SOMEONE ANSWER PLLLEEEAASSEEE

I don't know the answer off the top of my head, as I'm not familiar with that beep sequence during boot up. But could you try shutting down -> unplug the power from the power supply -> hold the power button for 10 seconds and then release -> plug in power supply -> turn on computer. Any change?

If no change, try placing the GTX 670 back into the computer, if you still own it? Does it still boot up normally? I saw that you don't want to clear the BIOS, but how about updating it?

My PSU is an XFX Pro Series 750W, I dont this is the problem as the 970 actually uses less power than the 670...
Thanks

Hi, Ive just tried the holding down the power button and it hasnt fixed it, im pretty sure that if I put the old one in it will work as before (normal) I should also let you know that while its on the splash screen there is actually no way for me to get into the Bios or any of the options, I press the button but nothing happens.

I'm going to try to update the BIOS, but I cant find the file, on the support page you can download loads of files but It doesent tell you which file to use and how to do it?
Would you mind helping me? my Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H.
Many Thanks

Here ya go. Since it's an executable file, I assume that you can run it straight from inside Windows. Let me know how it goes. I simply went to Gigabyte's webiste, clicked support, and searched for the model you provided: "GA-Z77X-D3H". Then I clicked BIOS, and it prompted me to download an .EXE file. I presume it'll run properly for you, since it's your model of motherboard.

Let us know if that wound up working. I have the exact same issue after switching to a GTX 970, but I have an MSI G46-970 mobo. I see this question popping up a lot. If I switch back to my old 570 GPU, everything is all swell. With the 970 GTX, it runs OK, but takes decades to boot and can't access bios. very odd.
