Hi Community,

i have recently bought a 2nd graphics card so i could try out crossfire, but after playing arround with it, and reading other posts here on the forums i am now unsure if my cards can be crossfired.

here are my two cards:
my old card: ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II TOP
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b2450/asus-r9-270x-directcu-ii-top.html

and

my new card: GIGABYTE R9 270 WindForce 2X OC
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b2623/gigabyte-r9-270-windforce-2x-oc.html

both cards are installed correctly and in games i can choose one or the other, but in the CCC, under performance i do not have the crossfire option, only amd overdrive and frame rate

i have read many posts in here, about uninstalling all drivers, taking out cards one by one, and reinstalling, using different versions etc.

i thought i was carefull enough, by choosing two cards that were both 270's but then afterwards i realise that one is 270x and other 270.. So main question is:

Do they even work together for crossfire?

Solution
^your motherboard DOES NOT support Crossfire or SLI unfortunately. If you want to do crossfire, you'll need a motherboard that supports it.

YES, you can crossfire them. 270 and 270x are identical; 270x has higher gpu clock only, which AMD drivers will automatically synchronize with 270 gpu clock

you have to connect the Crossfire bridge as well

so one says: "they don't" and one says "they can".
what i read was that as long as 270x or 270 has the same "speccs" like both 2k ram and not one with 4k and 2k, i should be able too.

@azca: i ahve put the bridge on, but i will now reboot and double check, thanks for the fast respond really amazing!

AMD's CrossfireX compatibility is not as strict as Nvidia's SLI, and so bridging cards of the same family is possible. I believe that those cards will support crossfire with one another, at least assuming the content of this thread is true. That being said, you are better off with a single superior card in just about any circumstance.

so i just opened my computer and checked if the bridge was attached propper, and it is.
i identified the two cards i am using with "TechPowerUp GPU-Z" and looking at the box of my new card.

but it is still not working..
when entering a game like path of exile it shows both graphics card i can choose from.
and still in catalyst control center, it does not show the option for crossfire in the performance tab

anyways, i didnt have that much money this month, so i wanted a cheap solution.. i guess since i packed it out, i can't return it.

try and sell my graphics cards and buy a new one, if so which one?

i am not a rich person, but i guess i could spend my entire august earning alittle extra.
