Why do you guys say that most games use 4 core's and if you use a AMD cpu that the other 4 core's will do nothing. that's not true at all. Even if the game only uses 4 core's the AMD CPU still uses all of it core's to process what it is processing
Game on any AMD and then on almost any Intel, then get back to me, also if you are going to do this make sure you use a nice GPU in order to not hinder the results
The 4 extra cores will address background tasks and whatnot as the system runs. However, tasks, such as gaming, that are not coded to utilize more than 4 threads, will not benefit from the extra threads.
Take Terraria for example. The game runs on a singe thread, my core 1 is maxed out, where as the other 3 are at ~5-10% usage for basic windows, skype, etc.
