Hey guys! I have a ASUS CM6731_CM6431_CM6331 and I kinda wanted to upgrade it to be able to run games smoother and not having to play games like cs go in low settings, anyway, I just want to have an idea in what Is still "good" and what I should upgrade to be able to play games who require more from your pc (ex: AC unity).
Pc info:
CPU
Intel Core i5 3350P @ 3.10GHz
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
4,00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. CM6731_CM6431_CM6331 (LGA1155)
Graphics
HP vs17e (1280x1024@60Hz)
1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 (ASUStek Computer Inc)
Storage
465GB Seagate ST500DM002-1BD142 ATA Device (SATA)
Optical Drives
DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
ASUS DVD RAM GH95N ATA Device

By the way, I'm kinda new to all of this so if I forgot to put something please warn me :)

A game will be limited by either the cpu or the graphics card.
It depends on the particular game.
My guess is that your graphics card will be the prime limiter.

------------------------------------------------------------
To help clarify your CPU/GPU options, run these two tests:

a) Run your games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

b) Limit your cpu, either by reducing the OC, or, in windows power management, limit the maximum cpu% to something like 70%.
Go to control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/processor power management/maximum processor state/
This will simulate what a lack of cpu power will do.
Conversely what a 30% improvement in core speed might do.

You could also experiment with removing one core. You can do this in the windows msconfig boot advanced options option. set the number of processors to less than you have.
This will tell you how sensitive your games are to the benefits of many cores.

If your FPS drops significantly, it is an indicator that your cpu is the limiting factor, and a cpu upgrade is in order.

It is possible that both tests are positive, indicating that you have a well balanced system, and both cpu and gpu need to be upgraded to get better gaming FPS.

Thank you a lot guys, just another question, do you think that a radeon r7 260x would be any good? And if it is even compatible? (again, pretty new to this stuff)
