I bought a accer laptop from my friend and I was trying to find out what the windows Product key was, I went to a site that had me put in some commands into the command prompt and it turned out to be a command to uninstall the product key not a command to show it!!

Now I uninstalled my product key, what should i do to get it back without having to purchase a new one?

All this just to get windows 10 on it.

Actually a very weird thing happened..
I was trying to find out the product key on this computer so I could get the windows 10 upgrade from 8.1 because whatever I tried to do the upgrade icon would not show, once I accidentally delted the key the icon popped on my task bar suddenly..

You can't delete your product key. Especially with Windows 8. It's written in the BIOS and tied to your motherboard just like 10. So just tell the truth, you have a pirated copy of Windows. An unauthorized copy of 8 will update to an unauthorized copy of 10. Then you will have the option to buy it like the rest of us. Making up fairy stories doesn't make them true. :sarcastic:

Company's that install Windows 8 and 8.1 do not put the activation key on the laptops/desktops anymore. This was a older thing windows did. Best bet is to call Acer, possibly have teh original owner call with you if they registered the product, and ask Acer what to do. If you get lucky, with the proof of purchase with model number and serial number, they will help you get your windows activated again.

If they refuse to help you activate the Win 8 OS you will be forced to purchase a new activation key.

EDIT: win 8 offers a refresh / fresh install option. This should fix the issue. This slipped my mind earlier.

Obviously your Jumps to conclusions shows what kind of person you are.
That's me telling the truth, you are very presumptuous.

I bought my copy of windows 7 and the windows 8 is built in like you said.
Please next time you throw accusations it might be taken the wrong way.
Also I wouldn't of been able to upgrade to windows 10 if it was pirated.
