I'm looking for a high end desktop replacement gaming laptop, and have searched every website that I saw.

The only two I saw that met the criteria I wanted was these two
Asus Republic of Gamers
http://store.asus.com/us/item/201506AM270000028/A19581

Alienware

Not sure which one to go with, looking for previous owners of either ASUS ROG laptops or alienware laptops, with over a year of ownership.

They're both well within my budget; although the fact that Dell owns alienware is a major drawback.

PS

If you are suggesting a different laptop it must meet the following criteria:
Charging port on the side
Under 2k USD
250gb ssd +1tb 7200 rpm hdd
gtx 970
quad core i7
Large design with good cooling
16gb ram (preferrably 1866, no lower than 1600)
1080p 17" screen
Backlit keyboard

sry didn't see that line. though may I know the reason for your preference on charging port on the side? AFAIK, charging port on the back usually aligns well with dual fan setup.

Ye man, considering most good gaming laptop will have dual fan setup. it will be really hard to find one with side charging port. if there is one the interior is probably weirdly soldered as well so it'd be hard for you to upgrade the GPU / CPU later on.

but if you can get over with that preference, I'd recommend any gaming laptop with a clevo chasis. the maintainability is just so good with clevo chasis.

just my opinions. let us know if you find a good one yourself though ! :)
