Hey guys, so I've completed my build. I used a Corsair SPEC-03 case, the front fan however is unbearably loud. So, I need help choosing one.

I can use either 120mm or 140mm, so the first dilemma is here, I really want a quite fan, but of course performance as well, so a good ratio. I hear 140mm can be better?

I'll only be making purchases from this website; http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/270-fan

So what dbm level do you guys think is best? Anything 20 and under? Thanks for any help!

Budget: $15-20
Preference: Blue LED (will suit my overall blue themed build)

140s are quierter because there is a LOT more blade than 120 and you can run them slower. Slower usually lowers the FREQUENCY of the fan noise. Humans tend to hear a narrow range of frequencies really well and so even though a lower frequency may be just as loud it won't seem as loud. Therefore you get a lower RPM and lower frequency so they are generally quieter.

Just about any fan that is 140mm and 1000 rpm or under should be quiet. I have these and they make no noise of their own:

If you want blue:

Hey Royal, thanks! Very detailed and helpful. Now my only concern is the Fractal Design is listed as 9 dBa, an the Corsair is at 25 dBa, I see that Corsair listed that sound @ 12V but Fractal didn't specify... I'm assuming they mean 9 dBa at low speeds?

Once again, thanks!

Edit: The Fractal design are complete out of stock :\ So I might have to go for the Corsair regardless now. Still, additional info will be greatly appreciated :)

Ah, yeah it's still a bit unsettling that they put 25+ dBa, since that is almost like a average fan :\

Do you find them noisy Blackbird? It's optimal for it to be quite. Especially since the Corsair SPEC-03 has so many vents and it's quite easy to hear everything.

That's probably true, but I bey you can turn them way down in a case with that many holes for airflow. Probably evens it out some.
