Hey der guys so i would like to run by you pc pros out there on your thoughts on my new build i want to purchase now keep in mind i already have a power supply, a hard drive, graphics card and a case so the current total of around $250 is just for a Motherboard, ram and cpu i want to buy

Currently i have:

WD Blue 6.5 gb/s(1 TB) - Hard drive
Diablotek Predator ATX Mid Tower - Case
GTX 650 ti - Graphics

And i would like to purchase these:

AMD FD8320FRHKBOX FX-8320 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition - $141

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard - $80

Kingston HyperX FURY 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Blue - $25 (will buy more ram later)

I would really appreciate your thoughts on what you would change again i wanna limit to around $250 for the 3 parts thanks!

Solution
I'm going to ramble-on a bit so hang on ... :)

AMD FX-8320
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P AMD 970
8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600
Combo Deal: $268

AMD FX-6350
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P AMD 970
8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600
Combo Deal: $246

With your gaming/Vegas plans here is what I would do. The FX-8320 will work just dandy in 'software rendering' (when you use only the CPU cores to do the heavy lifting) and gaming, and will take a nice OC on the -UD3P when you are so inclined ... BUT ... the FX-6350 has a higher base clock (3.9GHz to 3.5GHz), will game at a bit higher level, and likely take a higher OC.

And, it fits in your budget window.

BUT ... in software rendering it will be roughly 15- to 20% slower in Sony Vegas. So, what I would do...
If you look at the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P AM3+ from New Egg, you will find multiple combos ranging from $225 to $275 which include the -UD3P, CPU and 8GB of RAM.

I believe there is a combo with the FX-6350 and 8GB of HyperX for around $250 ---

The New Egg website seems to be down at the moment :(

So your saying i should get the Gigabyte board over asus? I would prefer to still buy the 8320 as it has more cores for things like sony vegas and what not and do you recommend AMD over Intel as ive never used AMD untill now my current build is Intel

Vegas is big in GPU compute. If your Vegas editing and rendering is properly configured and is something you are somewhat serious in doing, you need a Radeon card --- like the Sapphire R9 270X currently $130 after rebate. Here's why:

(from Anandtech)

Whereas the FX-8320 is 20% faster in 'software rendering' than the FX-6350, the performance increase from GPU compute is measured in multiples, likely 3- to 4X or more faster than software rendering ... AND, on top of that the R9 270X is nearly 3X faster than the 650ti Boost in Vegas GPU compute ... while being 35% or so faster in gaming than the 650ti in the same power envelop.

Decisions ... decisions ... decisions

Before you read this, I am NOT an Intel or AMD fanboy. I just want AMD to make some decent CPUs to compete with Intel's so the prices could go down. I think we can all agree that we just want a competitive market place, which brings lower prices.
I know you probably dont wanna hear this but... I would save up for Intel's CPU instead of getting an AMD cpu.
1. Runs cooler
2. Core to core Intel is by far better
3. It takes less power to run
4. Intel's CPUs architecture is way way way better than AMD's like 5 year old architecture
5. Games as of now just don't take advantage of all the cores and threads that a lot of AMD CPUs have
6. You can still OC with a ~$100 z87 or z97 mobo
But if you just can't get the extra $$$ then the CPU is a great CPU to go with. The asus mobo you have chosen will do fine or any of the gigabyte boards that were listed above by others.

Alright thank you so much! I totally agree it would be smart to save for intel as i am a kinda intel fanboy... But sadly i cant wait much longer on this so i think i will follow Wisecrackers idea and go with the lower cores but higher ghz Thanks for all the quick responses though guys!
