ST3000DM001

STBD3000200

at least from what I can tell they both have 64MB cache and 3TBs of storage so I really don't get the difference... is it the sata speed or a "rebadged" hard drive model?

Solution
They are the same drive, however the first one is a bare drive generally sold to PC builders (but obviously you can get from Newegg, amazon etc), the second one is the boxed version sold at retailers like Best Buy.
Please note on the spec sheet, the ST3000DM001 is shown as drive only (this is an OEM drive) and comes packaged only in the anti-static bag. The STBD3000100 is shown as kit, which means it is a boxed retail drive. These used to come with SATA cable, Molex to SATA power conversion plug, screws plastic SeaShell protective case. Today I think they only include the screws and protective case.

thanks literally just the bare drive when I last bought it but basically they are essentially the same only the second one has the accessories?

on the spec sheet I don't see the second drive at all :( not that I'm that very knowledgeable on hard drives anyways... and also how does that "seashell protective case" work? its not like this is a external hard drive right?
