Hello:) This would be my first post here. Bought a new custom computer with SLI 980 ti's. I feel like the cards are running too hot. gpu 1 is running at 51c at idle and gpu2 at 40c. While playing witcher 3 gpu 1 tends to stay at 83c. Most i've seen is 85c. Any thoughts ? should i be worried?

specs:

Cooler Master CM 690 III Sort/Grønn
Corsair RM850, 850W PSU
Intel Core i7-4790K
Corsair H60 Hydro Series CPU Kjøler
HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Red
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII HERO, Socket-1150
MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB
MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB
Crucial® BX100 250GB 2.5" SSD
Seagate Barracuda® 2TB

Update: I ran furmark at 1080, 4x msaa. gpu 1 maxed at 91c. gpu 2 maxed at 77c

Solution
Sounds about right temps for a SLI setup. If you can provide additional airflow to the cards you may get better performance due to it not having to throttle based on the temp.
that's fine. the idle temp on the first card is a bit high though. but most likely because the fan is not spinning when the temp was that low. you can install MSI afterburner and force the fan to spin all the time. doing so might improve the idle temp. load temp should be fine though i don't know what the temperature limit for you card before the card starts to throttle.

sometimes leaving the fan management to auto will not giving the best result. in the past it is proven that using custom fan curve can lead to better thermal and noise management. try using your own curve. default curve preset by MSI afterburner also fine

So this is nothing I should worrie about ? I made a custom fan speeds now. I did help on the idle temp. gpu1 stays at around 45 and gpu2 stays at around 35
