Drop the Barracuda and go with a WD Blue instead. The failure rate on the Seagate drives is much, much higher that it's worth spending a few dollars more.

:edit: Also he said he preferred Newegg. I agree that shopping at different retailers would save him money though. I also think that for this budget, fitting in an Intel hexacore Cpu would be possible if you drop down to an nVidia 960 graphics card. Gaming isn't one of the listed uses, but not sure if any additional Cuda cores would be beneficial for what he does want to do with it.
