I have a few questions about my GPU that recently overheated.

My NVIDIA 660ti EVGA's internal fan recently started going out, and my computer restarted many times because of this.

I have a few questions about my recent dilemma:

1. My GPU heated up and my computer restarted around 10 times. Could this have seriously damaged my GPU, and should I get a new one?

2. Is an external GPU fan strong enough to replace the internal fan completely?

3. How can I prevent this from happening again? Is there a way in NVIDIA's software that will warn me of overheating?

4. What is the healthy temperature range of a GPU while gaming/doing graphics intensive processes?

Solution
1) Possibly

2) not really, it requires static pressure to blow air through the heatsink

3) You can use GPU monitor tools to have alarms that sound when you hit a temp

4) normal range can be 70-90'c for GPUs.
