So I am 50% into my build and ready to install acrylic tubing into my build. But I was thinking I may want to add another graphics card. I believe that you can have a different brand or type as long as you keep the same model (ex. 970)

So I have 2 of these currently: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487069&cm_re=gtx_970-_-14-487-069-_-Product

And was thinking about getting this as my 3rd one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487088&cm_re=gtx_970-_-14-487-088-_-Product

Can I do this?

Would it also be wise to make sure they're running at the same speed roughly? That could be handled through tuning by lowering the memory MHZ and the GPU clock to the same frequency, but I would almost think that it could create some minor issues...

As long as I find a good water block for it, I am ready to buy!

What will happen is they'll all run at the lowest common denominator when running SLI.

Although since you're running precision X (?), as long as the speeds of all 3 cards are set the same in your tuning software and your system is stable, you should be good. You'll initially want them all running at stock clocks like the two you have now. Then, if you want to OC, lock them all in the tuning software so they all stay at the same clocks as you increase.

You want them all running the same speed though (core and memory).

I think I answered my own question at NVidia SLI FAQ "Can I mix and match graphics cards if one of them is overclocked by the manufacturer?
Yes. A GeForce XXXX GTX that is overclocked can be mixed with a standard clocked GeForce XXXX GTX."
