Hi,
I have DVD±RW and CD-RW Super Multi Double-Layer FX Combo Drive with LightScribe
HP Spare part number: 641808-001.
However, it was defective, so as long as my notebook supports installing a Blue-Ray drive, I want to replace DVD/CD drive with HP-Compaq 665329-001 SATA Blu-ray.

I have been looking for HP-Compaq 665329-001 SATA Blu-ray . SATA Blu-ray must be a BD-R/RE Writer/Burner since A BD-ROM DVD/RW Multi drive can read CDs, DVDs, and BDs, but it can only burn CDs and DVDs. If you want to be able to burn BluRay discs, you'll want a BD-R/RE Writer/Burner. ROM stands for Read Only Media; so BD-ROM indicates a BluRay play-only drive.

However, a friend of mine sent me this screen shot below of Blue-Ray drive.

As a result, my question is, do you think that this blue-ray whose screen shot is above is BD-R/RE Writer/Burner
I have told a friend of mine to purchase BD-R/RE Writer/Burner, but he sent me this one whose screen shot is above:

Looks like your "friend" is not much help. You better find whatever you need online, have it ship it directly to him and then he can "courier" over for you.

Easier, if you can live with an external USB burner, those are easier to find.

It looks like it says BD/DVD/CD WRITER under (or above since it's upside-down) the model number. Speaking of the model number...

A quick search engine entry for Pioneer BDR-S09XLT results in links to Amazon, Newegg, and other e-tailers which list it as a writer. However, Pioneer does NOT list it within its current or archived computer drives, and I can't find it anywhere within Pioneer's international sites, either.

Thanks a lot,

Note, in the Yemeni markets, there is no thing at all other than war, corruption. Even if I had purchased it from eBay, then my product could be stolen in the Yemeni customs right now.
So, that one I have posted its screen shot before is from Saudi Arabia. I have told a friend of mine residing there to bring from a Blue-Ray drive.

That drive costs about 500.00 SAR = 133.30 USD. So, do you think it is OK.

What is very important for me is that you can confirm for me if that SATA Blu-ray is a BD-R/RE Writer/Burner or not since A BD-ROM DVD/RW Multi drive can read CDs, DVDs, and BDs, but it can only burn CDs and DVDs. If you want to be able to burn BluRay discs, you'll want a BD-R/RE Writer/Burner. ROM stands for Read Only Media; so BD-ROM indicates a BluRay play-only drive.

Thank you both of you very much indeed,

Yes, I am looking BlueRay drive for a notebook. So, I am afraid that the dimensions of that blueray are huge.

You have viewed sites looking for 'Pioneer BDR-S09XLT'

Thanks a lot,
First of all: my friend is not specialist in computer since, nor even keep abreast of it. So, I think this is alone is a big problem.

Secondly: As long as there is not secure/safe shipping to Yemen since the stealing in the Yemeni customs, I really thinking of that way. However, I am still afraid from this way for three reasons. 1 - you think the online seller will surely send spare parts to that friend of mine, even if he doesn't have a Post Office Box. 2- my friend in Saudi Arabia must return those products to the seller if they are defective from the factory or some other reasons, or I can return them from Yemen.(I.e. if I needed to return some products for some reason, then I should first send to my friend in Saudi Arabia, and then he will get them back to the country where the online seller is.???
3- I should have used all my friend's the information, such as name, phone, country, and P.O.B if available while purchasing.

Thirdly: I have been looking for many spare parts for HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook since the spare parts of this model of notebooks are not sold in the local Yemeni markets . So, if that way could ship them to me in secure/safe way, it would be much better from shipping directly to Yemen due to the stealing in Yemeni customs.
