What's the difference between Upgrading Windows 10 and Clean Installation of Windows 10?

I have windows 7 ultimate right now. I want to install windows 10 pro on my pc. Should I Upgrade or do Clean installation? And what's the difference between them anyway? Also I don't have the Product key. So What should I do?

Clean install.

Don't know if a pirated version can be upgraded, they said so when they revealed that the upgrade would be free. Otherwise contact MS, make them give you a new product key and tie that to a Win 10 install. If yours is legit.

Well, then you have an issue. 'Not legit' is 'not legit', no matter "why".
Your system may or may not upgrade to Win 10, but it will remain 'not legit'.

You can't do just a clean install on a bare drive. The Windows 10 update MUST be run from an existing Windows OS.
Otherwise, it will ask for a valid Windows 10 license that you purchased.

Clean install or Upgrade really doesn't matter. The options you are given are Keep all your current stuff, or wipe it and install just the Win 10 OS.
But it still must be started from within the existing OS.

Will it work? Completely unknown.

Thank you guys for helping me. I already upgraded to Win 10 and it is perfectly working normally without the product key. I mean I just clicked skip skip in the product key and it worked. Thread Closed.
