Since Skylake and Pascal are suppose to come out soon, will the new gen of gpu's still be compatible with LGA1150 motherboards even if Skylake will only be for LGA1151? Also since the new mobos will solely support DDR4, will we be able to have some kind of support to use DDR3 in DDR4 mobos?

Correct me if I'm wrong but upgrading from Haswell/Broadwell to Skylake only give a very tiny upgrade while from Nvidia info, Pascal should be way better than Maxwell

Solution
GPUs work through the PCI-e interface. 10 year old GPUs will still run one modern motherboards, and modern GPUs will still run on motherboards from generations ago. The PCI-e is not yet saturated by current GPUs.

DDR3 will not run in DDR4.

Most modern system used for gaming are GPU limited, so there is plenty of life for LGA 1150 systems unless you plan something crazy with 4k. A good LGA1150 system will run 2x SLI 980ti, which I would be happy to use for the next five years (unless I wanted 4K and/or crazy multi-monitor).

What do you want to do with this system?

Thanks for the answer.

Here's my build:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ (easier to just link it than typing it and you get the full info)

Don't judge, I know corsair dominator platinum are overpriced, but I wanted them for the look.

I was looking to upgrade my gpu but for a high end pascal one when they come out and I was mostly wondering if it'd fit with my motherboard. And I didnt want to pay again for those dominator in a year or so. My build is mostly for gaming.
