I need help on why my internet connection sucks so bad.

I have a decent modem and router. (listed below) I am still barely able to get on the internet from multiple devices. My grandparents upstairs don't usually have problems. My phone and my desktop always drops connection. I know it isn't because i'm further away because my phone drops connection upstairs too. Any guests that come in also have issues.

Modem: cisco dpc3008
router: Linksys e3200

My grandparents use apple macbooks and ipads. I use iphone and custom built pc. I'm also running internet throuhg a ethernet cable if that helps.

How fast is your internet connection?

can you connect the PC directly to the modem (you might have reboot the modem) and see if it makes a difference?

According to CNET's internet speed test it is 29.31 Mbps. I ran the test right after my connection dropped. I guess i could move my desktop upstairs and try plugging into modem.

where is the router located?

is it upstairs by the modem?

do you have a network cable running from the router to downstairs?

if so can you unplug it from the router and plug it in to the modem?

I am not sure I understand your network setup.

Router is upstairs next to the modem. I could unplug it and put my desktop to it and see if that works for a few minutes, but not permanently. My modem has one spot for an ethernet cable so i'd have to unplug router. My setup is a modem connected to a router. Most things run off of wi-fi, exception being a desktop upstairs with an ethernet cable running directly to router. My desktop is connected through powerline.

Powerline? You did not mention anything about that earlier.

first test by plugging the network cable from the router directly into the modem.

If the problem persists, move the computer upstairs and test it without using the powerline adapter.

alright i'll try that. If it was that i don't get why it would be affecting my phone though.
