Hey guys i have been encountering a problem with my HDD(1TB Transcend + 500GB Transcend). The free space left out in my HDD is quite more than what the drive shows. For examples i have made a drive which has 308GB as the total space, now the space that all the folders consume aggregates to around 156GB. Whereas the free space shown in my computer for that drive is 70GB. Please help me with this guys i will really appreciate it.

Solution
1. A screenshot of your Disk Management wind would work here

2. WinDirStat may help show where your space is going

3. Hidden files, System Restore points, temp files..all space suckers that you may not be showing/seeing.

Edit, beat to it :)

Did you show hidden folders?
So you have system restore on?
You do not have 80 gigabytes of stuff in the recycle bin do you?

If this is your Windows drive, you may have files that are not accessible to you, but they take space non the less.

Your space loss seems very high so make sure hidden files are showing and remember that some things like restore points and shadow copies will take space. You can clean this up with disk cleanup.

You can also use a program called WinDirStat to try to locate files taking space. I do not recommend removing files with this, but more using it to get an idea of what is taking space on a system.
