I want to stream GTA V, Witcher 3, Battlefield, etc.

Here's my build.

-Mother board
ASUS H87-PRO
-Ram
G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
-Possessor
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
-Windows
8.1 64-bit
-Power supply
Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus - 600W Power

I was thinking about buying either a r9 390 (For RAM) or a 290x (For value)
I have a 330$ dollar budge. Brand suggestions or hardware upgrades are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would get a $300 R9 290 (this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202158). Then, you should overclock it as much as I can (you have a 600w Power Supply after all). After that, stream!

Would the 290 run GTA V smoothly when streaming when over clocked?
Is there a reason not to get a 290x or 390? Is it a value over performance thing? (By that I mean, Is the performance of the card is not worth the cost?)

your power supply would not be enough, it is actually a 450w and pretty shit

a 290(x)/390(x) requires a good 650w+

I would be surprised if it doesn't work. I found that there is a 7% performance difference between the 290 and the 290X and that's because the 290X has a higher clock speed out-of-the-box. Meanwhile, the Sapphire 290 is 20% cheaper.

Are you sure? The reason I got it was because it had a lot of good reviews on amazon and newegg. How can I test the wattage?

look at the link, they already tested for you

its a tin can, replace it before you get a new gpu if you want anything higher than a 750 ti

amazon and newegg reviews are worth as much as spit on the pavement

I did look at the link and I understand that they tested the product.
Now I have conflicting accounts on weather the power supply is actually a 600w or not.

Now just to be sure, and for the sole improbable, minuscule and otherwise unreasonable chance that the review you linked is wrong.

(If possible) I would like to test if this is truly the case myself. Since I have the thing already, I'm not trying to be stubborn, I just want to be sure.

sure, give it a go

that thing will pop and take something with it

i have given you the info, right there in black and white it is NOT a true 600w

"conflicting accounts???" you trusting the words from a random dope with no testing equipment? on a known crap brand like cooler master?

put that bullet in the chamber and pull the trigger...

Yeah that does seem stupid doesn't it? Trusting someone you don't know to be arbitrarily right without even trying to test if its true.

Oh hey what was that last bit? No testing equipment?
Well holy shit! would you look at that! That must mean that some sort of testing equipment exists, which in term means, I could use such testing equipment to test my power supply without blowing something up on my rig!?

Goddamn who would have thought such things were possible in this crazy world of ours.

"Trusting someone you don't know to be arbitrarily right without even trying to test if its true" Except THAT is EXACTLY what that website did... You know... TEST with equipment....

cool, then you can spend your budget on that instead of the parts you need... To find out EXACTLY what they already found out for you for free...

"Why manufacturers like Cooler Master are still carrying power supplies with fake wattages is a mystery to us. We know that this is a very low-end power supply, but this doesn’t give the manufacturer the right to lie. This unit should be labeled as a 450 W unit and sold for half of its price. Being labeled as a 600 W product and sold for USD 70, it is a complete rip-off."
