Hello,
I recently upgraded from win 7 to win 10 and I was wondering, if I will buy a new motherboard, will I need to restart my windows, because I upgraded to win 10 for free and I only have that key that came with the upgrade. Will I 100% need to restart my windows and will that key that came with the upgrade work? Or it will tell me to activate windows again and that key that came with the upgrade won't work? Any ideas?

Well...with any new motherboard, no matter what OS...a complete reinstall is often required. It is always recommended.

What happens with the upgraded to Windows 10 license? Who knows. MS has said two (or three) completely contradictory things.

This is very much of a 'maybe'.
New motherboard often, but not always, requires a reinstall of the OS
New motherboard may or may not require reactivation.

Since I'm guessing no one has actually swapped motherboards in an upgraded system in the two days since Win 10 has been out, what actually happens is up in the air.

I'm planning to buy a motherboard approximately in a year and then I won't be able to upgrade to win 10 for free, that's why this question came up.
