My local PC store stocks the WD blue and Barracuda at the same price ($75).
However, they were out of stock for the WD blue.
Should I go ahead and purchase the Barracuda?

Solution
I used to buy WD drives almost exclusively as they have been rock solid, however recently they seem to be having quality problems. I don't know what changed but I ordered 2 WD hybrid drives and both were DOA and the listing selling them online disappeared shortly after I got my refunds and an apology letter from the sellers.

Go for the Seagate.

I am in IT - and buy many hard drives. The reality is the reliability factor on almost all drives from WD and Seagate are virtually the same. The 3TB models are ones to avoid - and also the green drives can create problems.

At home - I purchase WD exclusively - and out of all the drives I have purchased, only one 4TB WD Black drive failed - it was RMA'd, a brand new 4TB drive was installed less than 2 weeks later (you can get overnight pre-shipment if you want to pay for the shipping).
