I'd like to point out first that I'm not even sure if I'm doing this right. I don't think posting in several categories at the same time is the right thing either so I just decided to compress it into one thread. Hope mods won't mind.

First off my potential build:

1. I had the intention of buying of buying a portable HD so that I could move my files to my new pc. Then I remembered the program windows easy transfer. THEN I realized that I most likely needed 2 monitors so that I can see what I'm actually transferring. THEN I remembered that I still had a VGA cable (that I don't use) from my current computer (a p.o.s hp desktop that I bought from best buy for 400 bucks). So I was wondering if the motherboard in the build still has a VGA port (since I think VGA is outdated(?)) that I could plug into and just switch between VGA and DVI from my monitor. Could I?

2. 2. There's a compatibility issue with the build saying that I had to update the bios before using the CPU. Now I did what any regular person would do and searched it on youtube. And I found out (I only viewed one video as it was late at night and I was very tired) that you had to actually turn on your computer to do that. I assume since you already turned on your computer that you're using the CPU already. So how exactly do I update bios without using the CPU?

Solution
noby as i posted before you have to call or email the store your buyingthe mb from and ask what bios file is on there mb now. depending on the age of the mb stock it could be an early bios or if it new stock it could have the newest bios file on them. all it takes is an email or a call.

Oh thanks mate.

on the second question with any mb and cpu first look at the mb ram and cpu guild on the mb vendor web page. it list the min bios rev needed to post the cpu. then look under bios updates to see when that bios dropped. sometime if your lucky it the first or second bios rev for the mb. if it the last bios rev needed what you have to do is call the store or email there pre sales support and ask if they have any of the newer mb in with the newest bios on them. all it take is a sale person to open the box and read the bios rev sticker on the mb or some mb the bios rev is the last 4 numbers on the mb ser#. on data back up there a few ways to do it. one if you have under 15g of data you can move it to google drive or online cloud. plug both pc into your home network and turn on file sharing and copy files from one pc to the other. pick up a sata or ide to usb cable and plug the old hard drive into usb 2.0 port. if the drive is a sata drive then you could use it as a back up data drive. install windows on the new drive with the old one unplugged. turn the power off and plug the old drive in. use windows disk management and give the old drive a letter and the copy data from old to new drive then format and reuse the old drive. also pick up and ext case for 20.00 and keep the drive as a backup drive.

Can you like construct your sentences into proper ones? I would understand if english isn't your main language though. Just try. I didn't understand a word you wrote sorry :(

nope you havent posted in the wrong section you just didnt ask any questions you said what you want to do and what you want the shop to do.

as for the ggogle drive bit yes you can do that. as long as both pc's have primary drives insatlled you can use a 3rd drive to transfer data to and from them. this includes things like google drive. not just physical media like an external hdd.

try constructing your questions properly mate and not just making a statement of intent...

2. 2. There's a compatibility issue with the build saying that I had to update the bios before using the CPU.

If you look at the CPU Support List from ASRock, you will see that AMD AD860KXBI44JA Athlon X4 860K Quad-Core Processor 3.7GHz is supported by ALL BIOS versions.

That CPU supports the use of DDR3-2133MHz memory out of the box. I don't know why anyone would buy 1600MHz speed memory for it.

because the cpus mem controller is limited to 1333 natively so gains very little from using faster ram.
just because a motherboard enables faster ram it doesnt mean there will be any real world benefits from it. so getting 1600 is the wise mans option. same real world performance way less cost.

Guys I don't need a discussion on my memory stick. The only game I plan to play is Dota 2 so I don't think the speed of the memory stick is the most important thing here. In fact, it's far from the question in #2. Now Calvin says that my mobo supports all bios versions. So does that mean that I don't need to update my bios and pcpartpicker was wrong?
