Windows 10 pro x64
I added an extra hard drive to my PC
It has a working windows 7 installation on it.
can I create a dual boot for it?
I know that I can start windows 7 by changing the boot order to the extra hard drive, but I would prefer to add it as a regular startup option without having to mess around in the bios settings every time.

after a little more research on the web, it looks like EasyBCD is supposed to do what I want to do. I will give it a try.

Hi

Many BIOS have a option to choose boot device as a one off at power on
can be DVD, USB or any HDD (SSD)

on Dells usually F12
others F8
read the motherboard user guide to see what options yours has

If the HDD with Win 7 did not come from a PC with similar (same) motherboard as your PC expect lots of BSOD

I got it to work with EasyBCD, but I had to repair the boot with Macrium Reflect recovery media, because I had two different boot partitions on two different hard drives, and they didn't work together very well. But I got that worked out now.

the mobos are similar enough to be basically compatible. Both are low-end old-style bios mobos, they are sort of generic for cheap desktops.
