If i plan to overclock will a z87 chipset benefit me in the real worl over a b85 and if so how much

Hello.
Actually B85 is not meant for overclocking. Simply B85 doesn't have the OC capabilities. But Z87 does have the OC capability. And in order to overclock you also need a K variant cpu.
If it's a new rig, Go for Z97 because you are overclocking. Wait until Skylake if you really want it.
