Hey guys I've a Compaq Presario SG1108IL i.e 9 years old but still it was working fine only thing I did is that replaced its HDD and increased it RAM to 1GB from 128MB. I bought this PC on winter 2006 as a Christmas gift for myself! It is all fine for browsing internet and I don't really play and heavy games (like bf4, bf hardline etc.) I simply do watch movies, listen songs, surf internet.

MY PC SPECIFICATION ARE AS FOLLOWS .::.

CPU: INTEL Pentium 4 @ 2.93GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR
SMPS: 230 WATT
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-85661EXM-775 (ATX MODEL)
O/S: Windows XP SP3
BIOS: Award Bios Copyright 2000

I'm right now facing a problem and the problem is that whenever I turn of my PC i get an error.

Award BootBlock BIOS COPYRIGHT 200

BIOS ROM CHECKSUM ERROR

DETECTING DRIVE A MEDIA...

DRIVE A ERROR SYSTEM HALT

I have tried many things but none fixed my problem and my greatest headache is that I'm unable to find any CMOS Jumper to reset its BIOS and therefore I can't reset it! I am thinking that the CMOS battery is dead and therefore needs replacement but I wanted to confirm that is anyway avalaible to fix the problem without spending money by posting my problem here. As I googled I saw people saying go to BIOS and disable floppy drive but unfortunately I cant even get access to it! My keyboard simply don't respond and even I check my pressing NUM LOCK key the light on lights up I am sure keyboard not functioning I tried different keyboard but it won't helped :( , after turning my PC on it blinking the power LED and this error appears, even I dont have internel speaker to hear beep sadly. I hope you guys can help me out so please do I beg you! thanks in advance and sorry in advance if i sound stupid!

Solution
Hi

Can you see the button cell battery on the motherboard
If so remove it and check voltage using a multimeter / volt meter
Should be 3.0 volts if less than 2.8 volts replace it

However rom bios checksum error may mean more serious error than corrupted CMOS

Jumper is to clear configuration settings stored in battery backed (CMOS ) memory

Find user manual on hp website as motherboard may differ from standard gigabyte version
This will show how to reset CMOS and change battery

Best of luck
