Windows 7 Won't Download Updates

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 on my PC and now I'm trying to download the updates that I need via Windows Update. However, nothing is getting downloaded. Windows Update says it is downloading updates, but it continually says (0 kb total, 0% complete). Windows Updates says I need over 130 critical updates and 65 optional ones and I want to get them on my machine ASAP! I already tried using the Windows Update Fixit tool and that didn't help. I've disabled my antivirus software while trying to update (I'm using Avast) and I'm using Windows built-in firewall. My machine specs are as follows:
