Hi everyone.
for the past I don't know how many months I've been experiencing reboots at random times, occurring more and more frequently as time goes on. Here's my specs:
CPU: AMD A8-6600k 3.9ghz 4-core
MOBO: Biostar Hi-Fi A85w
RAM: 16gb(4x4gb) Corsair Vengeance DDR3
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 Reference 2gb
PSU: EVGA SuperNova NEX750B 750 Watt
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
Now please read everything, this is a long story.
I upgraded to a GTX 770 from a AMD HD 6970 a few months ago. A month or two after I started experiencing the reboots. I kept getting the Event ID 41 in windows event viewer. (No BSOD). It only happened once or twice every 2-3 days. I initially assumed it was my CPU because Speccy was giving me out of the water temps. Of course little did I know it was wrong cause It's hard for those programs to get accurate readings of temps for APUs. (A poor choice on my part to get an APU) Then, I did some research and figured out It could be my power supply (at that time I had a 3 yr old corsair CX600). That theory was debunked a few days ago though when I got my EVGA SuperNova, as reboots kept happening. I also got error event id 20(AMD Northbridge). I ran ram tests, CPU stress tests, reinserted ram, reseated GPU, Reapplied thermal paste, hell, I even upgraded to liquid cooling!(I know, AMD Liquid cooling?). Nothing worked. I got to the last candidate for being the culprit, The GPU. I pulled the sucker out and threw a GTX 560ti in there to see if any reboots happen. so far no reboots. I don't think there is anything wrong with my 770. What do you guys think is wrong? I don't just want to go out and buy a new GPU until I know that's the ONLY think causing the problem. Very frustrated now
Thanks, Nick
