Hello there all, So I am doing a build after my main PC broke (A laptop). I also want thoughts on my Monitor choice as this will be my first desktop (I want an 144hz 1080p Monitor, And I do not need G-Sync)

Here is the Desktop Components:

-Fractal Design R5 Case
-WD Blue 1TB HDD (Plus my 1TB Laptop Drive)
-Asus DRW DVD Drive
-Asus USB ac56 Wifi Adapter
-Asus Turbo GTX 970
-Seasonic 620W
-G SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB RAM
-ASRock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer 3.1
-Intel Core i5 4690K
-Hyper EVO 212

And the Monitor

-BenQ XL2411Z (144Hz, 1080p)

What does everyone think? Upgrades? Monitor? I am trying to keep it under 1800 (Just scraping that at 1775) All from newegg!

Thanks for any opinions/thoughts!

Only thing I would say is make sure that power supply isnt the Evga b1 series. For that price range I suggest the xfx 550w or the seasonic 620w. If you are willing to spend a little more get the evga b2 series power supply. For evga get either b2, g2 or gs. Stay away from b1 or g1.

Thank you very much for the suggestion I thought the EVGA looked a bit..iffy. But I went with the Seasonic 620W! Better update the list now!

I probably should but there are a few things I need people to keep in mind:

1. 1800 involves the monitor, not just the desktop itself
2. I am from Canada, therefore It sounds higher when In USD it would not be..Extravagant.

I will try to find a gold level PSU but keeping my budget proper is hard too.

your build doesn't need much of a PSU
if you have any intention of doing SLI
because your mobo supports it
yeah get a seasonic 750w gold
but if you wont SLI in the future you'd be good with most of the PSU's as long as they are good brands
corsair-seasonic are the top in the market in my country

the build looks great, think you edited you post because I see a good psu while everyone is complaining. Anyways why not wait just a week and see how things go with the new CPU skylake and z170 motherboard would do, DDR4 RAM is also cheaper now.

list of good cheap power supplies, antec and seasonic 620W, XFX pro series and evga B2 and G2 are great and not over priced

Yup! Updated the PSU, Now..I dont want to wait for skylake and z170 as I know it will be well out of my price range. As Here is the deal: I Broke my Acer Aspire V3, I bought it for around 1500$, With a full coverage warranty, but I didnt buy it through acer, I bought it from an IT guy who is an associate. As such I am hoping to exchange the new computer (From the warranty) for 1500$, the rest I have to cover. As such this is the best I can do. Plus, I have no need for anything extra, I mainly game so no real need for an i7 or DDR4 RAM!

all that for $1500, with $1800 you could do a lot better too.

Skylake and z170 + ddr4 shouldnt be much of an increade in price, maybe around $50 more, plus all the z170 motherboards look epic. Another choice is go with a 780 graphics card or daul monitors. I would even up the power supply to a EVGA G2 850w.

I added an OS assuming you will need one.

Very well done Research..But..That is 1500 USD, I am Canadian so that goes to about 2,000 for me haha. I greatly appreciate the research I really do..But Here in Canada everything is quite a bit more (Exchange rate..13% taxes on anything sold) so as I said, I am trying with my budget. USD I would Have around 1,300.

left some extra for the wifi adapter, could make it cheaper buy I kinda liked the red theme.
Use PCpartpicker, you might have to buy from a few different sites, but atleast you get good deals and it looks more organized.
