Max RAM memory stick module size for MSI 870-g45

Board can take 16gb max. MSI support says 2x8gb should work but they've never tested it so no guarantee's.

I want to upgrade from my current 2x2gb to 2x8gb. Same PC3 12800, speed and pin count. Anyone know if it does or know a reason why it wouldn't?

You can try - find it funny that MSI says it 'should' work, but A) they've never tried (????? it takes 2 minutes) and B) Being their mobo, they should KNOW if it will. after all they wrote the BIOS..so they should KNOW if if the settings are there to accommodate 8GB sticks. There have been a variety of mobos that aren't specced for 8GB sticks where folks have gotten them to play.
