Strangely enough I couldn't find a proper tom's/3d guru's benchmark or article about this.

I just have to know where I stand, "am I good" or did I screw up:

I purchased my 2nd GTX 980 at the beginning of May, right before The Witcher 3 came out. TW3 came out on my birthday so I was excited about it and the SLI.

It was barely a month afterwards that GTX 980 Ti was announced and released.
Gotta say I did feel a little sting inside.
Especially since I made a post asking about whether or not I should go for 980 SLI and what about future 900s cards, and the majority of people told me 980 Ti might never happen and that there are no expectations about it.

Then a month or so later... BAM!! 980 Ti announced and I was surprised, maybe a little pissed off, especially since prices in Israel haven't changed for 980, nor have they changed in Amazon. So the price for 980Ti cost exactly/almost the same as my 2nd GTX 980.

My specs:
X2 Gigabyte G1 Gaming Geforce GTX 980 SLI
Core i5-3570K (running @ 4.2 Ghz auto voltage OC)
Asus Sabertooth Z77 Motherboard
16 GB of G.Skill Ripjaw-X DDR3 1600Mhz (x.m.p profile)
SSD 256GB Crucial M4
HD Western Digital Black 2TB
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Case: Corsair CC600T Graphite White Special Edition
PSU: Corsair 850AX Gold
Running Windows 10 64bit. Pro
Monitor: Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q 2560 x 1440p 144 MHz + Nvidia G-Sync.
Secondary Screen: 55" TV: Samsung UA55D6400 TV1080p 60 MHz
Connected via Pioneer VSX-823-K AV Receiver

Also recently installed Windows 10 and here is my 3dmark score:

What do you think?
Not wanting to sound too spoiled. I still play games on my PS3 and PS4 and love it. But High End PC Gaming has always been my prime concern.

If something really sucks about PC gaming, is the constant looming shadow of "yet another new and better hardware".

Also in my case, which I discussed in a different thread, I can't upgrade my CPU (not significantly at least) because of Motherboard compatibility, same issue with the RAM.
Only if I make a whole new PC build, which I rather avoid for several years if I could...
I put a lot of effort into this build a few years back (it had gtx 670 back then which I upgrade to gtx980). To be honest it was a difficult effort to research, find and assemble everything correctly. It was the first PC I built entirely from scratch by my self alone.

nothing wrong with 980 SLI, I dont know why you are worried, there is ALWAYS something newer and better around the corner, thats the thing with PCs. Dont fall into the trap of always needing the best stuff around as it becomes a huge waste of money.

Also, you cant always rely on the community to know whats coming out or how good it is, people can only guess or speculate.

Thank you both for the quick replies.
I wanted to know what other users and Gamers think.
Also I definitely didn't intend for it to sound like I'm putting a blaming finger, I know people here try to help and sometimes rely on speculations.

I followed your logic for years. Like I said, when I built this PC, it had an Asus DC2T GTX 670 GPU. Which was probably the best in its time. Shortly after 680 came out, followed by a few cards. I decided to prolong any future updates. 780 came, the older Titan, then the 780Ti that was top of its class. I didn't succumb to the upgrade pressure, and told myself I should wait for the next gen chips: the Maxwell. Eventually when GTX 980 came out this year, I finally allowed myself to upgrade.

My logic was simple:
Getting the best bang for buck, as well as getting a sufficiently beefy boost from the upgrade. So yeah I delayed as much as I felt right.

Then I bought a 2nd 980 for SLI.
I felt the time was ripe and also my last SLI was back in who knows when with X2 geforce 8800 ultras!

I know some people buy gpu-after-gpu like hot potatoes, but I don't want to go that way, especially as prices here in Israel (or importing prices) are off the charts, and there is no reliable sell our hardware later.
