Motherboard overheating (116 C), but nothing else is?

Hey guys, thanks in advance. Just finished a build with the following specs:

OS: Windows 10
Case: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White
CPU: I7-4790K
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-E/USB 3.1
RAM: 16 GB RAM G.Skill Ribjaws
Graphics: GTX 970 4GB
Power Supply: Corsair 750W Modular
SSD: Samsung Evo 850
HDD: Seagate Hybrid Drive.

Putting this altogether, nothing went wrong (this is my 14th computer I have built). But for some reason, my motherboard is registering on two different programs as being 116 degrees Celsius. Thing is, NOTHING else is getting that crazy hot. The CPU, video card, etc. are all running between 25-45 C. The case comes with two 120 mm fans in front, one 200 mm fan on the side, and a rear 120 mm exhaust fan. Should this not be sufficient?

Also, just to make things fun, the BIOS reads the board at only about 20-30 degrees Celsius. I have two extra fans (120 mm) that I will be installing at the top, but I'm wondering if anyone has any idea why my motherboard would be getting so hot and how I can help cool it down. Thanks!

EDIT: Just wanted to add that I have had the computer crash on me a couple of times already (I'm guessing due to the heat, but maybe it's just a Windows 10 thing?).

I am using HWMonitor and Priform's Speccy. Both say the same thing. HWMonitor specifically says it's related to the Main Board.

Most likely a glitch in the temperature sensor when you're running an OS. I wouldn't worry too much about it since your BIOS says the correct temperature. I highly doubt anything would be running that hot (except maybe the VRMs but even then!).

On top of my head, I would try to update the BIOS version (go to the ASUS website)

Do you think it could be an incompatibility between the motherboard and Windows 10? I've had Windows crash on me a couple of times, but I'm wondering if I just need to find updated Windows 10 drivers (which didn't come with the disk).

I've had the same issue on Win 7. It's not OS related.

So you've just trusted what the BIOS says then and ignored the HWMonitor and/or Speccy readings?

Driver updates weren't possible unfortunately, but I did notice something. At times, Speccy will mirror the BIOS temperature of around 25 C. Also, it boots up super fast (we're talking 8 seconds or so) so I'm able to get a temp reading with HWMonitor and Speccy practically as soon as it starts. It reads at 116-118 C as soon as it boots up. I think realistically, this shouldn't be possible. If it were overheating, it would start off at 20 something and then rise and rise and rise and rise until it gets to 116 C? It would realistically take a couple of minutes, right? By this logic, I imagine that Speccy and HWMonitor are not able to actually read the temperature of the Mobo correctly and that the BIOS is correct. Thoughts?

So I know this post is a year old, but I figured someone else might come across and not find the answer they're looking so I will try to explain

Basically, I believe EvanBrett is right, Speccy and HWM both tell me my board is running at 112c sometimes 110c as soon as I boot the PC, however I never noticed this until months after I built my rig, I never really checked the boards temp. but I never had any problem. Secondly, you have a Z97-A (or E) which I also have and it has USB 3.1 or 3.0 for some reason and my PC kept crashing for some reason as soon as I opened Chrome and I couldn't figure it out, so I unplugged everything from the USB slots and just kept my mouse and keyboard plugged into USB 3.0 slots and Chrome ran fine without crashing my PC, but when I plugged my Logitech controller into a 3.1 slot it crashed on me so now I just don't plug in anything to the 3.1 slots and bought a USB Hub
