SSD compatibility with Motherboard

Solution
If the SSD is SATA it should work with any mobo with SATA ports.

BUT, if you get an M.2 SSD then the mobo needs to have the M.2 slot on it

I would get a 250 GB + SSD. A smaller one can fill up in no time. And it'll have less cache on it

The motherboard won't care what's on the other end of the SATA cable. You should use AHCI mode, but it could be a hard drive, solid state, or a duck's brain on the other end, as long as they talk. Samsung's well regarded, you can get a 850 EVO 250GB for about $100 (The 120 is $70)
