Hi, I currently own an AMD FX-6300 and for some reason, it has started to use idle speeds while im playing a game or using a program. For example, Im playing call of duty bo2 and I usually get 100 fps but it is now at 20 because it is sitting at 1.4mhz when it should be at 4.2mhz. Any idea why? Im on windows 10 by the way.

Solution
By far the simple answer is to go into your bios.
And first check that the multiplier value of the cpu is indeed set right.
In your bios your multi should be set to 17.5 with a 200mhz memclock/ bus speed.
200x 17.5 = 3.5Ghz cpu core speed.

To stop it happening simply turn off cool and quiet in your bios settings.
That will leave your cpu at the frequency of 3.5Ghz without dropping down to a 1.4Ghz core speed.

Have you made any changes to your system?
This seems like a BIOS promblem, tey updating it.
See your CPU clock speeds.
