I have RCN, and lately the internet stopped working, as if I type in google nothing happens. I checked my dns, and I have two servers listed under the "DNS Servers column". I was told these were register to a server in Maryland, and it should be pulling from NY (the state I have service) and nothing under search domain. I called again and the second representative told me that, it shouldn't matter that its all automated, and its all my computer/ ps3s fault. In their end everything looks fine. They did reboots, I did reboots, still the same problem sometimes the internet works sometimes it doesn't. From what I read in wiki you need a search domain in order to translate say "google.com" to I don't know something like "121.123.12" random numbers. So my question is, is it necessary to have search domains under DNS? and could that be my problem for my internet dropping out, I have the same issue for my ps3, where my network signs out but I can sign in again right away, all connections are hardwired, and the ps3 occasionally says DNS error. Thanks in advance. Sorry for the very long paragraph.
