So i have my old hdd from a pre built pc. it has windows 7 on it. I plan on moving hdd's to my new build soon. The problem is you can't do that for obvious reasons. Compatibility from the old parts the old motherboard etc. I guess what i'm asking is if i moved my old hdd to my new set up i realize i would have to reformat the hdd. But would it keep the o.s. on it or is that tied to some key in the bios? Should i say fudge it and just buy a windows 10 o.s. is the o.s. at all recoverable in the move i assume it should be locked to the hdd. Once again any advice is appreciated.
