Help my psu just exploded

Help my psu just exploded en there was some grey smoke it was a small explosion at the back of the 600W psu,, then i checkt if everything was oke,, but when in replaced it with my old psu of 500W my pc when i push the start button it isnt turing on , just for 0,1 sec and then it shuts down,, i think something burnt down while the explosion, CAN SOMEONE PLS HELP IM A FIRST TIME PC BUILDER!

What brand PSU was it? The explosion may have damaged other components in the build - motherboard, CPU, storage devices, you name it. Check for burn marks near power connectors. The motherboard is probably dead seeing as it doesn't boot.

Ah the fresh smell of burned PSU fuse in the morning. lovely. I m sorry to read that though. Sounds like your old 500W psu can't pick up the power bill. I suggest the following actions:

Remove hard drives from power feed.
Remove w/e dvd/cdrw you may have on power.

Turn on your computer. Do you see the nice white bios letters?
If yes then probably nothing's burned (that's why psus have fuses inside) you ll just need a new PSU.
