Approximate Purchase Date: Next week

Budget Range: (e.g.: 300-400) $2800 AUD *Updated* Includes Peripherals

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Recording Gameplay, Video Editing

Are you buying a monitor: Yes (and keyboard)

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: umart.com.au

Location:Brisbane, Australia

Parts Preferences: No preference as long as it does the job

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe (Not sure what they are tbh)

Your Monitor Resolution: (e.g.: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I like to record gameplay footage, e.g. Counter-strike, Men of War AS2, Arma 3 & Battlefield 3. I had issues on my old pc not being able to run Men of War As2 on highest after the update to dx10. The main purpose of this rig is to run all of the aforementioned games and future games (e.g. battlefront) on ultra at 60+ fps and recording at a steady 60FPS (with fraps, shadow play or dxtory. Suggestions about recording software is also greatly appreciated, just want the best quality possible).

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: (e.g. I'm having trouble running game X or my PSU broke): Old rig was not great. Most importantly could not run games at the quality I wanted. Ended up selling it after it could not run Men of War As2 on Ultra after the dx10 update (had to play on lowest settings).

Solution
yeah it looks pretty good if you cant get the xeon or some of the other parts in my build.

but there is nothing that is incompatible and everything is quality.

here is what i have for you.

If you were gaming at 14400p or 4k you could stick a 980ti in there but that is unnecessary at 1080p

If you can afford it the i7 4790K is an excellent option.

If you are willing to wait a while the Skylake CPU's are around the corner.

For 1080P only this is more than enough:

The R9 290X has an excellent price : performance ratio and there are rumors it's performance will drastically improve after DX 12.

Yea I'm planning on getting all of the gear next week. Just with regards to KKAW's response: I do need OS and of course a screen and keyboard included in the price I have given, so that's the computer + the keyboard + monitor in the $1500 - $2100 Price range.

It would also be silly to spend 80$ more on an overclocking motherboard and 90$ on a cooler when you could get a 4790k with a 212 evo for less than that. Really you dont need any of that and a xeon e3 1231 v3 is fine, you dont even really need an aftermarket cooler.

even a 4460 would be great for gaming and there would be almost no difference.

I feel like an I7 would be better with Hyper Threading, especially considering the main purpose of this build is to record gameplay.

I also think that a PowerColor Radeon R9 390 8GB PCS+ Video Card, is not going to do the job and I would need something a bit more powerful. (In saying both of these statements I may be very wrong, I'm new to this)

Thoughts anyone? - Might I need to expand the budget?

the xeon in my build is hyperthreadedand will do well with recording and editing. You could get a 980ti but it would be completely unnecessary if you are playing at 1080p

i stand by my build above unless you plan on going 1440p 4k or 144htz in which case a 980ti would be better.

Please don't smack a noob. I bumped up the price a bit, tell me what you think. 16gb RAM for video editing & reducing rendering time.

1. Alright so a few more questions. Is an SSD necessary/will it make that much difference.

2. I will need a cpu cooler because...Australia...do you have any suggestions?

3. I would like to have a really well ventilated case any suggestions?

4. Xeon vs i7?

an ssd is not necessary but it will speed up boot times and some program load times

the cooler master hyper t4 is cheap and will cool the CPU perfectly well

The enthoo pro is well ventilated

updated build

I dont think you need an i7 and it would cost more to overclock it but you can get one if you really want one It probably wont change gaming performance much at all.
