What PC component is used in 2D and 3D CAD programs?

Hello there, My question is basically wanting to understand What CAD programs use most (especially audocad). My frames are very low with good pc components and not the CPU nor the GPU are used more than 10%. And what can I do to improve frame rates?
CPU i7 4790
GPU GTX 780
RAM 16GB 1600.

The three things you mentioned.
I don't know anything about CAD-moddeling but I stumbled upon this post and found it pretty weird that no one has answered.
So CPU, GPU, and RAM.

However, some CAD systems can do graphically and computationally intensive tasks, so a modern graphics card, high speed (and possibly multiple) CPUs and large amounts of RAM may be recommended." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer-aided_design#Technology

Per core usage, there are some spikes from time to time to higher use but generally all cores a lower than 10%.

Yeah... it is recommended a good cpu, gpu and lots of ram but does not use it properly... 3ish fps in autocad in wireframe on not a very complex model is disappointing to say the least. Other software run smoother with .dwg than autocad, autodesck is doing a worse job every year...

that is disappointing...

both of those say that with a card similar to yours, you should be getting solid performance, on par with a Quadro. but maybe it's worth buying a low-end Quadro to see if it's the drivers themselves that are the issue?

The benchmarks tells one info, the real workflow is a little different than that. At home I use gtx 970 and tried working with a low end quadro (way worse than gtx 780), results are really unsatisfying. I just hope to get some options to make it smoother even if loosing visually while working.
Anyways, I wish autocad would use my hardware more than just 10% and get better workflow...
