Laptop and pc won't connect to my router through WIFI

My laptop and and pc won't connect wirelessly to internet, but my ipad and my smartphone connect to internet without a problem. Can anyone help me? If you need more details just ask me.

Is your laptop's wireless turned on? (Some have an actual on/off switch on the side of the laptop)
Does you desktop PC have a wireless card installed, or a usb wireless adaptor?

Has this always been problem, and if not, what changed when it did become a problem?

My wireless is on and my pc does have a wireless card installed. When i try to connect and the troubleshoot window pops up it says that i have to reset the router ,but the last time i did that the internet did not work and i had to call tech support. It wasn't a problem ,but i think this started to occur since the last time i called tech and they told me how to have internet again.
