Solution

hi. i'd be keen to know how you go with this, because another consideration is the temperatures. The top card is going to get nothing but hot air from the bottom card. I tried this with two MSI 780ti s on the MSI gaming 9 motherboard, and saw the top card go into 90 degrees celcius , with the case wide open, and ambient temps around 20 degrees (as cool as i could get it here in Brisbane last summer). so I gave up in the end :-(

500 Watts just for the video cards anybody that gives you a answer without knowing the rest of the parts of your PC is just guessing and not making a intelligent answer.
For all we know you could have one of the 220 watt FX processors that would put you at 720 watts already with just the processor and video cards.

Well, aside from those two seemingly unlikely options, given this is a new build, I'd say my suggestion is more than adequate. However, you're right. I should have inquired more to avoid making a suggestion that's close to the edge.
