As a frequent customer and voyeur of the forums for years - I am excited about my first post! Please excuse the brevity and formatting - I'm on my phone and prefer to get the important details down.

Here is the deal:

-7 year old build
-sat idle in a closet for 4 of those years
-recently booted it up to find the OS (Windows XP) was corrupted
-reformatted and installed Windows 7
-noticed some bsod's
-figured I had a failing component
-ran memtest86 overnight
-came back to find my pc wouldn't post, nor would fans or lights turn on
- no error codes

-gave pc to local repair shop as I lack time, tools, etc
-they informed me that the mobo has bit the dust

The mobo that failed:
Gigabyte GA-MA-78GPM-DS2H

So I'm left with:
AMD Phenom x4 9950 Black Edition
2x 2 Gig DDR2 Corsair
And an PCI-e nvidia graphics card (blanking on the exact model)

So I'd like to salvage this build, what are my options?

I've found these two options (and I am skeptical about the manufacturer):

ASRock 960GC-GS FX

ASRock N68C-GS FX

In the end I'm concerned neither board will support the high wattage of my processor...

Thanks anyone for feedback or advice!

Thank you for a quick response and, unfortunantly, confirming my suspicion.

Are there any compatible boards still on the market? If not, any reliable way to find old stock or used boards?

Edit----~
Should I make another post asking this more specific question, or will this thread be bumped even though I've declared it 'solved'.

Thanks in advance, community.

I'd say that now would be a good time to build a new system. Like cin19 said, if you want to find one that supports your chipset, you may just have to go to Amazon or E-bay. Maybe Newegg or a place like that might have an old one in stock.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, you could always just grab an APU like the A10-7870K or A10-7850K. Just need like a good 300watt power supply (although 500 is better of course), 8gb of 1600ddr3 and such. Don't even need to buy a separate dGPU with an APU if you don't have serious gaming needs.

Make sure you ask for the back I/O shield, also ask which BIOS version it has, because they say "All boards are tested and fully functional, and will be tested again before shipping" because the MB need at least 0407 version to support the 140W Phenom x4 9950 Black Edition cpu. Good luck.
