Is it better to SLI GTX770 or get a single GTX 970? Also, will my Motherboard SLI?

I have a GTX 770 graphics card, this one:

I've been looking to get a better graphics card for a while, and I've settled on getting the GTX 970, specifically this one:
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-970-4G-Graphics/dp/B00NN0GEXQ

However, it occurred to me it might be cheaper to just buy another 770 and SLI it. So my question is this, will I get better performance in general out of the two cards or the one?

Though, the point might be moot, I don't know if the motherboard I've got can SLI in the first place, does anyone know?

Go the 970, no SLI support on the Mate
